How do you manage and direct your impact? This is a critical question in the impact investing field. Some investors will refer you directly to their Theory of Change (TOC), which is essentially a comprehensive description and illustration of how and why a desired change is expected to occur. Although not mandatory, the TOC can indeed be a very practical tool to guide your activities and desired impact.
It is therefore not surprising that several of our members have developed a TOC and regularly use it in their Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) practices.
Two interesting examples of a TOC were found in Bio-invest and the Impact Expansion Fund of Kois Invest. Both serve as excellent illustrations of how to formulate a TOC at a fund or organizational level.
In this inspirational session, we will give ample time to Jérémie Gross from Bio-invest and Elvire Perrin from Impact Expansion. After a brief introduction on the basics of a TOC, Jérémie and Elvire will each explain their TOC, along with the obstacles they encountered, the advantages and disadvantages of using the TOC, etc.
Since the best teachers are found in practice, we will allocate sufficient time for questions and exchange and open discussions.
